Many of us have the same question - what are you using as treats. Since many of the puppies have begun formal training treats have become an issue. Here in Chesapeake, VA we have never found a treat that didn't cause some sort of stomach upset. I am willing to try again though. Currently we use kibble to treat while training. So could everyone comment on what brand of treat you are using with your puppies and what the result is (in regards to stools). We will all appreciate it. Thanks. Brenda
Hi everyone, So this is the first post of my blog on Bella's Baker's Dozen site. I wish I did this when the puppies were first born. I have all sorts of advice and information regarding dog birth, etc. and I could have been giving a diary of puppy progress. Oh well, now we will be charting puppy / dog progress as they are all over the east coast.

Hi all. Lily's (dark purple) dad here. I'm happy to say that Lily's stool has been fine. During the first couple of days after we brought her home we continued on the Puppy Pack. We had also purchased a bag of the Petway Maintanence food. After the first week when she was settled in, we started to slowly incorporate Innova Large Breed Puppy food into the mix. Now, we filled a large bin with a combo of the Puppy Pack, Petway and Innova. By the time we're through the bin, she'll be transitioned 100% to the Innova. As for treats, we use Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed Puppy Biscuits. We break them up into about 6 pieces and use them to train. Lily loves them!!!!

Yeah Rob! You made our first comment. I never really thought about it - but I should have titled the post - "In one end, Out the other."

We have found that pure freeze dried beef liver and freeze dried chicken is a great treat for Hank (baby blue), though he hasn't had any bowel trouble with food or other treats. I found them at Petsmart, though I know you can get it online and in other pet stores. Hank is still on 50/50 holistic chicken and Verus fish from Pet Way.

We used a brand we got from Costco. I am not sure of the name bc I gave my mom half the bag for her pup...I will let you know. They are all organic though and primarily are oatmeal and honey, etc. No preservatives and the oatmeal is great for a sensitive stomach however we have not had any issues with Boomer's stomach. He is currently on Nutro Chicken and Brown Rice with Oatmeal. It is an aqua colored bag :)

I'm Keese's mom (brown) and he is also eating the Innova Large Breed puppy food and we are using Pure Bites freeze dried chicken for treats and he does well. I was wondering if Lily's mom and dad would let me know if you feed her food dry or do you add water? Keese eats it better with water and heated

Hi Amanda. We do add water and let it soak for about 15 to 20 minutes before we feed her. Our baby girl is like a hoover, sucking it down. She loves her food.

By the way, as of today, Lily was 48 lbs. She's gained 20 pounds in the 4 weeks since we got her. Just wondering what everyone else weighs.

We have since found biscuits that work with all the pooches, Bella, Gunther and Levi. Bella has made an about face and she has developed a stomach of steel. Gunther and Levi however are super sensitive just like their siblings.
